Two well-known musicians on the same stage

On October 17 at 7:00 PM, at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall the 3rd Khachaturian International Festival represents world-famous musicians: Suren Bagratuni (cello/USA) and Hirofumi Yoshida (conductor/Japan).

Suren Bagratuni is one of the world's most famous cellists. He performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America. Over 30 years the name of this musician is associated with the best cello performing art achievements. Suren Bagratuni is a well-known pedagogue: he is an honored professor at Michigan State University, who has conducted numerous master classes around the world. He is a member of Nobilis Trio and artistic director of Cello Plus Annual Festival.

Hirofumi Yoshida is one of the leading conductors of his generation. International mass media often refer to his name. In August of 1996 he became the winner of the 19th International Conductors Competition in Italian Valsolda city. In 2002, Hirofumi Yoshida was awarded the ''Most Promising Young Talent'' Prize in the Opera Division of Gotoh Memorial Cultural Award (the first conductor who won this prize). Maestro Yoshida led such orchestras as Transylvania Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Concert Orchestra, Rome Symphonic Orchestra, Verdi Theatre Orchestra, Cairo Opera House, Massimo Theater in Sicily, Bologna Opera House and so on.

During the Khachaturian Festival concert of October 17 conducted by Hirofumi Yoshida, the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia will represent "Vltava" Symphonic Poem from "My Homeland" series by Bedřich Smetana, Cello Concerto in B minor (soloist Suren Bagratuni) and Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" by Antonin Dvořák.

On the same day, in the context of Khachaturian International Festival, on the stage of National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet will be represented Khachaturian’s "Spartacus" ballet in 3 acts. The featured dancers are: Ruben Muradyan (Spartacus), RA Honored Artist Jacqueline Sarkhoshyan (Phrygia), RA Honored Artist Maria Divanyan (Aegina), Grigor Grigoryan (Crassus), Honored Artist Zaven Harutyunyan (Gladiator). The play is directed by People’s Artist of Armenian SSR Yuri Grigorovich.

It should be mentioned that the 3rd Khachaturian International Festival is held under the patronage of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. This musical celebration is realized by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (general partner VivaCell-MTS), with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture. The festival is sponsored by "Pyunik" Charitable Foundation, “Luding" Company, "Jermuk Group" and "Ani Plaza".
